• Dietary Reference Intakes: Links

  The Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) are developed and published by the Institute of Medicine (IOM). The DRIs represent the most current scientific knowledge on nutrient needs of healthy populations. Please note that individual requirements may be higher or lower than the DRIs.
• Dietary Supplement Labels

  The Dietary Supplement Label Database (DSLD) contains the full label contents from a sample of dietary supplement products marketed in the U.S. It is maintained by NIH’s Office of Dietary Supplements and the National Library of Medicine.

  Prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medication information for the general consumer. Data from AHFS; available through MedlinePlus, the National Library of Medicine’s consumer health information website.
• FDA: Dietary Supplements

  FDA regulates both finished dietary supplement products and dietary ingredients. FDA regulates drug supplements under a different set of regulations than those covering “conventional” foods and drug products.
• Interactive DRI for Healthcare Professionals

  Use this tool to calculate daily, nutrient recommendations for dietary planning based on the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs). These represent the most current scientific knowledge on nutrient needs, developed by the National Academy of Science’s Institute of Medicine
• Office of Dietary Supplements

  The Office of Dietary Supplements, a part of the National Institutes of Health, works to strengthen knowledge and understanding of dietary supplements by evaluating scientific information, stimulating and supporting research, disseminating research results, and educating the public about the efficacy and safety of dietary supplements in order to foster an enhanced quality of life and the health for the U.S. population.
