Many people carry an underlying belief that news reporting should be unbiased and objective. However, it is also generally agreed that true objectivity is impossible to achieve – after all, news events are interpreted and reported by people, who are inherently biased. This makes it even more important that people be able to identify potential biases in reporting and think beyond those biases.
